Drunk Elephant T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial.

So it’s been a long time since I’ve written a blog post !!!

Time to get back into it and no better way than catching up on products I’ve wanted to write about for a long time.

Drunk Elephant has to be one of the most popular brands on Social Media due to it’s impressive Pr & Marketing team and the love so many people have for it. Whilst not above the occasional mind boggling claims,  the simple fact is that the majority of their products that I’ve tried are really good and this was the first product I tried.

Product  T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial

Type– Acid Mask

Price– $80 usd.

About –This mask contains 25% AHA’s & 2% BHA which I believe makes it one of the strongest at home acid masks available. Its main aim is to smooth texture and refine pores and brighten the overall complexion. It also contains soothing antioxidants.

Recommended Use  After cleansing apply a thin layer on dry skin. Remove with lukewarm water after 20 minutes.

How I Use– Exactly as directed .

Smell  Acid like but not offensive.

Texture– A creamy paste like texture that spreads easily.

Thoughts – On application it tingled slightly but this dissipated quickly. I found it easy to remove and my skin looked bright and felt incredibly soft . No matter what I chose to follow with the next day my skin looked even more radiant.

Repurchase – Absolutely although unavailable for purchase in Australia it’s definitely worth smuggling in 😂😂 Will do so as winter approaches .

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycolic Acid, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Glycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Salicylic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Punica Granatum Fruit Ferment Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Silybum Marianum Seed Extract, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Cicer Arietinum Seed Powder, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium PCA, Allantoin, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Dextrin, Polydextrose, Sorbitan Isostearate, Amylopectin, Niacinamide, Phytosphingosine, Lactic Acid, Propanediol, Citric Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Polysorbate 60, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol

So that’s what I think about that.

Have you tried it , What did you think ?

Thank you for reading . If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask .

Hi everyone ,

I haven’t posted in quite a while but thought I’d best get back to it as I have quite a lot that needs reviewing. Im starting off with the Ausceuticals serums that I started using in August. I purchased them with my own money after seeing them in the Instagram feeds of @ms_hannah_e and @skinmusings .

As for Ausceuticals its a Australian business based in Perth founded by a husband and wife team one a aesthetic physician and the other a natural skincare formulator whose focus is on creating active no nonsense formulations that are cleverly balanced with soothing ingredients to minimise possible irritations . For those of you who know me or follow me on Instagram you will know my preference is to embrace both green and traditional skincare so Ausceuticals definitely appeals to me as they are focussed on harvesting the best of both worlds whilst remaining essential oil free.

They actually have quite the list of ingredients they won’t use whilst also being a cruelty free brand they also have many vegan friendly products.  If that appeals to you,  and if not it can’t hurt to accidentally support it. I also like the easy no nonsense pump packaging and found it easy to dispense the correct amount.

I’ve only used the serums so far but really enjoyed the sample of their honey cleansing butter which does contain essential oils, It smelt and felt delicious and no doubt will be added to my collection at some point.

All of the serums were well priced and they ship within Australia as well as New Zealand and America.

So without further ado……..

PRODUCT – Rehydrate Serum

PRICE – 30ml for $45 aud

RECOMMENDED USE – 1-2 pumps onto clean skin.

A.M OR P.M- Either

HOW IT SMELLS – I actually think this smells slightly refreshing yet still very faint.

HOW IT FEELS – Slightly tacky yet layers well.

HOW MUCH DO I USE – 2 pumps covers everything.

HOW OFTEN DO I USE – Every single night.

HOW DO I USE – I massage onto a clean face, neck and chest.

MY THOUGHTS – This is a lovely mix of skin loving and barrier repairing goodies and layers beautifully with everything else. A good hydrating serum that does what it says at a good price .

FACTS –  This has lasted 3 months and has roughly another 2 weeks of product left.

Cruelty Free

Free of Silicones/SLS/Parabens

Fragrance and Essential Oil free.

This is a Vegan friendly formula.

REPURCHASE – This is lovely and I think for normal to oilier skins this would be fantastic . For me it didn’t provide the level of hydration I look for and in that way is very similar to the Drunk Elephant B Hydra. So a great product just not suited  to my personal preferences .

INGREDIENTS – Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Flower Water*, Lactobacillus/Kelp Ferment Filtrate, DL Panthenol (Pro Vitamin B5), Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide, Lactobacillus/Cocos Nucifera Fruit Extract**, Cholesterol, (Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP, Ceramide EOP), Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow Root) Extract*, Polyglyceryl-4 Laurate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil**, (Calendula) Officinalis Extract*, Phytosphingosine, Sodium Hyaluronate (Mixed Molecular Weights Vegan Hyaluronic Acid), N-Acetyl-Glucosamine (NAG), Glycerin*, Lysolecithin**, Sclerotium Gum**, Xanthan Gum**, Pullulan**, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Sodium Levulinate**, Sodium Anisate**, Potassium Sorbate**, Sodium Phytate**, Lactic Acid.

*  Organic Ingredients

** Ecocert approved preservative

PRODUCT – Vitamin C Serum

PRICE – 30ml for $45 aud

SKIN TYPE – Any although sensitive skins be careful.

RECOMMENDED USE – 1-2 pumps 3 times a week applied on clean slightly damp skin.

A.M OR P.M- Either.

HOW IT SMELLS- There is a faint scent but its not offensive or overwhelming.

HOW IT FEELS – Slightly tacky , However I’ve not had any issues layering products of any type over it.

HOW MUCH DO I USE – 1 pump is sufficient for face and neck , I do like to add another pump for chest .

HOW OFTEN DO I USE – I use up to 5 times per week generally in the morning, although sometimes I use at night . I’m still messing about with where I want to place it.

HOW DO I USE – In the morning I mix 2 pumps with 2 pumps of hydrating serum and massage into mist dampened skin over my face, neck and chest . Then move onto the rest of my routine.

MY THOUGHTS – I find this has been a welcome addition to my routines and a vital part of my quest towards bright and glowing skin. Whilst it has not faded my pigmentation significantly lets not forget that it took me not wearing spf daily for 20 years to build up the amount of damage that has been making its way to the surface the last 7. My main reason for purchasing a Vitamin C serum is for antioxidant protection and assistance in brightening. This has ticked those boxes whilst remaining remarkably well priced.

FACTS – I started using this on August 16th and it has not oxidised.

After regular use it has thus far lasted 3 months I should be able to get another 2 weeks out of it.

It has a lot of other antioxidant ingredients and some lovely soothing ingredients of which Calendula is my personal favourite. Its a pretty impressive list all round to be honest.

Cruelty Free

Free of Silicones/SLS/Parabens

Fragrance and Essential Oil free.

This is a Vegan friendly formula.

REPURCHASE – Yes I definitely would, I have another Vit C to test first but unless that is life changing I’ll definitely be back for this.

INGREDIENTS – Aqua (Purified Water), L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), DL Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Flower Water, Glycerin*, Glutathione, Ferulic Acid, Alpha-D-Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Phloretin, 1,3-Propanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract*, Chamomille Recutita (matricaria) Flower extract*, Thioctic Acid (Alpha-Lipoic Acid), Alpha Bisobolol, Lysolecithin (and) Sclerotium gum (and) Xanthan gum (and) Pullulan**, Glyceryl Undecylenate (and) Glyceryl Caprylate**,  Potassium Sorbate**, Sodium  Phytate**.

LOW PH (2.9 – 3.4)

PRODUCT –  Vitamin B Serum

PRICE – 30 ml for $45 aud

SKIN TYPE – Any , again sensitive skins need to take care and patch test.

RECOMMENDED USE – 1-2 pumps on clean skin.

A.M OR P.M – Either.

HOW IT SMELLS – Again not really any smell.

HOW IT FEELS – A slightly more runny serum again I feel a slight tackiness but as with the previous serum layers beautifully .

HOW MUCH DO I USE – 2 pumps .

HOW OFTEN DO I USE – Around 5 times a week.

HOW DO I USE – 2 pumps with 2 pumps of a hydrating serum all face, neck and chest then continue with the rest of my routine.

MY THOUGHTS – So I never thought of Niacinamide as an ingredient I should look for as I’d mainly seen it promoted to those with acneic or oilier skins. Being a dry occasionally dehydrated skin type myself it had never appealed , yet the more I learned about it and saw how it was featured in some of my favourite retinol’s I thought why not. I’m glad that I did as this has been another important part of my brightening arsenal with regular use my skin is looking more even and its all adding to the glow I crave.

FACTS – Again 3 months of use no change in colour or scent.

Contains 10% Niacinamide  and some favourite brightening ingredients such as Licorice , Bearberry and my favourite soother again with Calendula .

Cruelty Free

Free of Silicones/SLS/Parabens

Fragrance and Essential Oil Free.

Vegan Friendly.

REPURCHASE – A very easy yes , Coming out at just under $15 aud a month is fantastic.

INGREDIENTS – Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Flower Water*, Aqua, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Panthanol (Vitamin B5), Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Acetyl Glucosamine (N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine), Glycyrrhiza Glabra, Polyglyceryl-4 Laurate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil**, Glycerin*, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate (Licorice) Extract, Tetrahydrocurcuminoids, Arctostayphlos Uva Ursi (Bearberry) Leaf Extract, Morus Alba Root (White Mulberry) Extract, Salix Alba (White Willow Bark) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea EGCG) Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Zinc PCA, Quercetin, Fucus Vesiculosus (Fucoidan), Lysolecithin (And) Sclerotium Gum**, Xanthan Gum**, Pullulan**, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sorbitan Caprylate**, 1,3-Propanediol**,  Benzoic Acid**, Sodium Phytate,  Lactic Acid.

So thats my thoughts on everything I’ve tried from this brand and I’m looking forward to trying more and repurchasing some as discussed.

LOTION: Lotion P50 PIGM 400 $123 150ml  (you can use this twice a day after cleansing, it is quite gentle. after you have used this for 50 days you could move up to Lotion P50V $91 150ml
MASQUE: Creme Masque Vernix $274 50ml  (you can use this as a protective moisture masque leave on for 20mins or you can use it as a overnight treatment if your skin is feeling particularly dry) https://biologiquerecherche.com.au/products/creme-masque-vernix/

SPF: Your choice (we dont have our SPF available in Australia
EYE: Creme Contour pour les Yeux et Levres Biofixine $206 30ml  (very hydrating and helps prevent and correct fine expression lines) https://biologiquerecherche.com.au/products/creme-biofixine/

For me so far I’ve found the cleansing milk a little drying and have not used micellar cleansers before so may look at trying those.

I already own the P50 PIGM 400 acid toner and have upped my usage to nightly . I purchased the travel size of the PIGM 400 serum and look forward to seeing how that suits me.

The Biofixine and Masque Vernix feel wonderful on my skin overnight and my skin feels very nice in the morning.

Also sampling the PIGM 400 creme and its lovely far too soon to see if any of the PIGM 400 range is doing anything although it does feel active on the skin. I’m also enjoying the VIP02 eye creme sample and think that BR’s eye creme’s are very well priced considering you get double the amount of most eye creams on the market.

The other samples I have that weren’t recommended I’ve just been trying out , one thing they all have in common is how easily they absorb and how light they feel on the skin and yet I wake with soothed , hydrated and moisturised skin.

I will definitely book in for a Biologique Recherché facial to further understand the range and refine my recommendations.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to leave in comments or if you just want to share your own experience !

Thank you for reading and I hope you’ve subscribed

Night Routines – What I use and why.

As discussed in my morning routines post, I try to tailor my routines around specific ingredients and my skins needs as well as wants.

So my primary areas of focus are on keeping ageing at bay whilst trying to improve skin tone and texture and also help my skin maintain a healthy cell turnover rate without stressing my skin.  I do this by using serums , acids and occasional derma rolling.

As we age our cell turnover is more sluggish and can benefit from exfoliation, not over exfoliating is absolutely key. I have spent a long time with my skin and am aware of when I am stimulating versus damaging , so whilst it can look like I use a lot ( which I do) my skin is never left looking flushed or red and never feels tight or tender .

The most important thing is to listen to your skin and become familiar with it when its feeling its best so that you can monitor any changes and act accordingly . Remember to treat your skin with the same love and care you would treat anything else that you love. Immediate results are always the dream but annoying as it is , slow and steady does indeed win the race.

I will now show you 3 of the different routines I do throughout the week.

Focus – Lactic Acid , I perform this routine twice a week.

So as you can see I’m focusing on acids in this routine my p.m routines always focus on a double cleanse to remove every trace of makeup and spf so that I can begin with a clean and well prepped canvas  . I then move onto acid toning , presently I’m using Biologique Recherché PIGM 400 to focus on pigmentation. I like to follow with a hydrating serum before applying my eye cream and then straight on to a gentle exfoliating serum which is lactic acid based as I find that better on my drier skin. All of this is finished of with a moisturiser . This routine finds me waking up with hydrated and glowing skin.

Focus – Retinol , I perform this routine 3-4 times per week

As you can see double cleansing is always key as is a hydrating serum and on these nights I’ve recently begun to add a niacinamide product so far I’m enjoying the addition. Now on nights when I use a derma roller it is at this stage and then I apply my retinol immediately after as I hope to aid that in penetrating slightly deeper , my derma roller is titanium needles at 0.25 mm which I sterilise before and after use. Next step is eye cream followed by a moisturiser then a few drops of rosehip oil massaged in gently . My skin upon waking looks refreshed and even and feels deeply nourished due to the addition of the oil.

IMG_0751 (1)

Focus – Self Indulgence and Clarity at least once per week.

I reach for this kind of routine when I want to revel in all sensory joy. From the textures to the aromas and the desire to massage my face into oblivion this is what I reach for , or perhaps I feel my skin has had enough of traditional active ingredients and just want to slow it all down and nurture my skin then this is where I’ll  go,  and now that I have a oil that includes retinol and vitamin c I can still acknowledge my ageing fears without it feeling obvious .

So there you have it my thinking on a nightly basis .

I also prepare my routine photos  2 weeks in advance for Instagram and also so that I can be sure I’m being consistent with core ingredients and using regularly enough to both see results and conclude if my routine needs more refinement. If after a month my skin doesn’t appear to be benefitting from my skincare cocktails I go back to the drawing board. The ingredients I focus on don’t change only the type or place in the routine itself.

Please don’t forget that its the ingredients that matter not the price or brand of the product. Also what works for me on my dry skin in my 40’s may not work or be necessary or  even suitable for your skin type or at your age.

Thank you so much for reading , I do hope you enjoyed and subscribed.

If you have any questions or thoughts please share them with me in the comments.

Lots of Love

Morning Routines . What I use and why .

Of late I’ve been trying to round out my morning routines to make sure I’m covering as many bases possible ingredient wise , whilst still maintaining joy.

The key factors are Vitamin C , Hydration and Spf 50+ everything around that is about soothing and promoting a moisturised complexion. I will be including my 3 different types of routines to show when I include exfoliants and masks.

The brands aren’t whats important a well balanced routine can be achieved on any budget and not everyones skin can handle as many layers. This is what works for me at this time so I’m sticking with it.

This routine I do about 3 times per week. Starting with an oil cleanser then onto eye cream. I then mix a few drops of a hyaluronic serum with a vitamin c . A few drops of oil mixed with a soothing balm. Brush my teeth then apply a moisturiser. After doing my hair I then apply spf 50+

My morning routines look somewhat drawn out,  and to the uncharitable,  convoluted. The main reason I am able to spend so much time is due to the fact that I consider starting the day feeling calm and balanced essential to my wellbeing.

I lean heavily towards green beauty in the mornings or sometimes lunchtime when I wake up. I find due to the beautiful aromas and textures of green beauty its an absolute joy to begin my day with them.

The main focus of the routines is cleanse, hydration, antioxidant protection , more hydration all capped off with spf . If your day routine doesn’t end with at least a Spf 30+ then everything that precedes it is for nothing.

Twice a week I will use either a hydrating or soothing mask. Starting with an oil cleanser then a mask and onto eye cream. I then mix a few drops of a hyaluronic serum with a vitamin c . A few drops of oil mixed with a soothing balm. Brush my teeth then apply a moisturiser. After doing my hair I then apply spf 50+

When it comes to day routines Im not trying to fight any crimes such as pigmentation or ageing . I just focus on hydration and prevention of further crimes against my face caused by sun and pollution and occasionally my own ignorance. The other massive benefit of these routines are that I start my day feeling absolutely blissed out and that can only be a good thing.

At the moment I’ve introduced some new products and am looking forward to seeing how they go. For me the importance is that a product in each of my essential categories is present . The brand and price are about personal preferences , green , traditional, budget or luxury . Use what makes you happy and thats all that matters , there are so many phenomenal options .

And once a week I will add a gentle physical exfoliant. Starting with an oil cleanser then apply the exfoliant I like to let it sit for a few minutes before removing gently then onto eye cream. I then mix a few drops of a hyaluronic serum with a vitamin c . A few drops of oil mixed with a soothing balm. Brush my teeth then apply a moisturiser. After doing my hair I then apply spf 50+

So there you have it all the different ways I like to start the day as you can see I like to go for it in the mornings . If I’m masking the I wear it in the shower to protect my face so whilst it looks extremely time consuming my actual time in front of the mirror is only around 10 minutes but if not in a rush I take up to half an hour.

What are you favourite ingredients to focus on in the morning ?

Thank you for reading , I do hope you enjoyed and subscribed if you haven’t already.

Revision Skincare

I was sent the above products from En Vogue Skin Clinic which is the only distributor for Revision Skincare throughout Australia and New Zealand. I was asked to choose two products from the range that interested me the most and they also sent a deluxe sample pack and booklet filled with information. In exchange I promised a blog post and Instagram post with my thoughts.

The following paragraph is taken from the Revision Skincare website and is how they describe their range.

We concentrate on what is truly important: the substance and quality of our products.

Every day, our scientists pour their hearts as well as their scientific expertise into making Revision Skincare® products. They are driven by a profound passion to develop product formulations that deliver real skincare benefits.

Revision Skincare scientists follow the highest standards of ingredient selection with innovative processes that retain the ingredients’ purity and strength. Our proprietary formulations ensure maximum stability and optimum results.

All of our products are formulated with scrupulous attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to providing the very best.

So clearly they are coming across as a science based brand , no frills only efficacious ingredients and formulations . Now those who know me well realise that I’m all about what it actually does for my skin and are aware that I’m a 50/50 type. 50% green beauty and 50% traditional skincare. I also put a lot of focus on making my skincare routines more of a self care experience, so I must admit I was somewhat concerned as to how I’d like these products.

I have been using the full size products regularly for just over 2 months please also note that I am 41 years old with a normal/dry skin . I have fine lines around the eyes with a slightly hooded eye due to ageing. And have no botox or fillers at this stage.

Without further ado , lets get on with the review.

D.E.J  Eye Cream $129.99 aud for 14ml

What Its Meant To Do –  Be extremely moisturising and improve fine lines and photo damage and also improve upper lid appearance and firm the eye area.

What It Did For Me – I did find that it provided a good level of moisture throughout the day and does feel firming immediately after application . As you can also place this on the upper eyelid the feeling of firming was felt there also.

Recommended Use  This can be used morning and night , One pump for both eyes.

How I Use  I only used in the mornings and used one pump which I found sufficient for both eyes. I like to tap in eye creams to help combat morning puffy eye syndrome. So I tapped in from the inner eye all the way around and up to the brow bone.

Smell  Like nothing so great if you’re sensitive to fragrance.

Texture   A light cream. Definitely not runny nor to thick to absorb.

Thoughts While this is definitely in the luxury category so far it has lasted me 2 months with daily use . I can’t speak to the claims about photo damage however I can say that I found it very moisturising and dry under eyes is one of my biggest issues . Within a month I noticed my concealer was laying better and not settling into fine lines. My lines have not increased nor been eradicated. The level of moisture helped them plump out a little. As for firmness,  under the eye its not really an issue for me, it has helped a little with my upper lid though.  The inclusion of some Copper and Vitamin C did excite me a little. All in all I’m pleased with the results

Purchase – This is definitely on the list.

The following is taken from the Revision Skincare Website.

Key Ingredients and Reported Benefits –

  • Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline. Helps moisturize the skin.
  • Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Methyl Glucoside Phosphate Proline Lysine Copper Complex.Energizes the skin.
  • Goji Fruit Extract. Provides powerful antioxidant benefits.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil Unsaponifiables. Enhances skin’s moisture level.
  • Vitamin C (THD Ascorbate). Brightens skin and provides antioxidant benefits.
  • Cucumber Fruit Water. Soothes and calms the skin.

Ingredients– Water (Aqua), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Water, Glycerin, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Caprylic/Capric/Myristic/Stearic Triglyceride, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Palmitate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Cetyl Esters, Sorbitol, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hypnea Musciformis Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Decyl Cocoate, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Fruit Extract, Sorbitan Stearate, Methyl Glucoside Phosphate Proline Lysine Copper Complex, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem Cell Culture, Sargassum Filipendula Extract, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Caprylyl Glycol, Squalane, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Seed Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Steareth-10, Gelidiella Acerosa Extract, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-14, Steareth-20, Hydrolyzed Myrtus Communis Leaf Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Ethoxydiglycol, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Polysorbate 60, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin, Sodium Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid.

Hydrating Serum $104.99 aud for 30ml

What Its Meant To Do –  To keep the skin feeling hydrated and assist with fine lines and wrinkles.

What It Did For Me –  My skin felt instantly hydrated.

Recommended Use  Apply two pumps to freshly cleansed skin, avoiding eye area . Can use a moisturiser over top if needed.

How I Use   I used this the same way I use all hydration serums. Cleanse , Mist or Acid Tone, This, Treatment, Eye Cream, Moisturiser then Oil.

Smell   Again virtually non existent.

Texture   A typical mid weight serum not watery at all. Absorbs easily.

Thoughts On the plus side no matter what I put over it there was no issue with pilling. It doesn’t feel sticky at all. On application it feels hydrating. For me personally as a more dry skin type I didn’t feel like it added a great deal to my overall hydration levels . I tried my routines with and without and there was no discernible difference. I do believe this product would be more suited towards a more normal , combination or oilier skin. If you love Drunk Elephant’s B Hydra then this is probably something you’ll really enjoy.

Purchase – For the reasons stated above I will not be purchasing.

And now for the samples !!!!

Will give brief thoughts Left to Right.

Gentle Cleansing Lotion – Gentle is the right word , skin felt soft and calm after use.

Papaya Enzyme Cleanser – This felt so good on my skin , not drying at all.

Black Mask – Incredibly brightening and clarifying mask

Vitamin C Lotion 15% – The C in this is THD Ascorbate. No tingling layers well.

D.E.J Eye Cream – Full review above

Intellishade Matte – Broad Spectrum Spf 45 – This is a tinted moisturiser only one shade  which looked to light but ending up changing and worked well on my olive skin and was not to matte , deeper skin tones will definitely need to sample first , makeup layered well over top.

Revox 7 – This contains 7 different peptides and is aimed at expression lines. Not enough to have an opinion. It layered well and felt like a slightly viscous serum.

D.E.J Face Cream – Felt very moisturising on the skin.

So thats my experience with Revision Skincare so far , as you can tell the eye cream was the standout for me. I also really enjoyed the Papaya Enzyme Cleanser , Intellishade Matte Spf and would like to spend more time with the Revox 7 as my expression lines are only becoming more expressive !!!!!

I am extremely grateful I was given the opportunity to try these products, All opinions are my own and shared with you in good faith. If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you so much for reading I do hope you enjoyed and subscribed .

Til next time.

Herbivore Botanicals – I finally went there !!!!

I have seen this brand all over Instagram for the last 2 years and resisted the call of the minimalist packaging and cute names and the temptation  of alleged holy grail products.

3 months ago , I thought stuff it and purchased a few different products to see what its all about.  The packaging is even more glorious up close and I understand why its one of the more popular brands to photograph . Its well priced and everything I tried smells delicious. They don’t use parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, phthalates, chemicals, fillers, animal testing, mineral oils, petroleum.

So I bought one of the gift sets which included travel sizes of the Coco Rose body polish, Rose & Hibiscus mist and a full size lip balm. The other products were the Pink Clay mask and Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Creme.

I will share my thoughts below .

Coco Rose Lip Conditioner $35.95 aud

This is quite a thick balm that I really need to warm up on my fingers before applying. Once applied it feels very soothing and protective and smells delicately of rose and coconut as the name suggests.

I’ve also been enjoying tapping a little onto my cheekbones instead of highlighter on no makeup days and a touch on my brows before combing keeps them in place all day.

Repurchase Yes , although its on the pricier side I believe it would last a long time.

Ingredients  Hydrogenated Soybean Oil (Non-GMO Soy Wax), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Virgin Coconut) Oil, Orchid Root Extract, Rose Damascena (Moroccon Rose) Absolute, Coconut Pulp CO2, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Oil, Red Iron Oxide

Rose & Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist – Available in 60ml $23.95 aud 120ml $49.95 aud

Another lovely offering, lightly and naturally fragranced , feels refreshing on the skin comes in a travel and full size which I appreciate. I ended up using most of this to mix masks with. For me when I purchase a mist I want it to really start off my skin with a good layer of hydration and for my drier skin type this didn’t really fill that function. It is loved by many so always do what works for you.

Repurchase No.

Ingredients Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Disillate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water (Aloe Water), Rosa Damascena (Rose) Hydrosol, Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment), Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Neer Sikkappu Red

Pink Clay Exfoliating Mask $35.95 aud for 60g

I’m not really a lover of powdered masks traditionally, however of late I’ve been enjoying the ability to customise according to my needs at the time.

The pink clay is meant to be good for rejuvenation and elasticity, It also contains rosehip which is said to have anti ageing benefits. For me my skin looked brighter after use and it came in handy during the great pimple crisis of May 2018. If you have a dry or sensitive skin and suffer from congestion or love a do it yourself clay masking session then this may be for you.

Repurchase  I didn’t love it and have another powder mask I prefer.

Ingredients French Pink Clay, White Kaolin Clay, Organic Rosehip Powder, Organic Rose Powder, Organic Chamomile Powder.

Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Creme $69.95 aud for 50ml

I was completely and utterly surprised by how much I’m enjoying this cream and how moisturising it actually is. I mainly purchased this because of the rosewater and more importantly its called Pink Cloud ( thats why they don’t come to me for the science lol.)

Its very light in texture and fluffy almost ,when I apply looks almost greasy but after a few minutes settles into a dewy appearance and my skin feels good throughout the day. Of an evening which is where I most commonly use it , I like to layer after serums and before oil. I wake up with plump looking skin. Its also delicately and naturally fragranced with rosewater which I find a comforting yet refreshing scent.

The ingredients aren’t groundbreaking , It won’t save your life or make you look 10 years younger however it will moisturise your skin and its called Pink Cloud !!!

Repurchase Yes I thoroughly enjoy it.

Ingredients Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juiceHelianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, diheptyl succinate, capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid, glyceryl stearate citrate, cetearyl alcohol, Populus tremuloides (aspen) bark extract, Rosa damascena (rose) flower waterAleurites moluccana (kukui) nut oilglycerin, cetyl palmitate, Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract,Oryza sativa (rice) seed extract, Camellia sinensis (white tea) leaf extractButyrospermum parkii (shea) nut butter, propanediol, Myrothamnus flabellifolia extract, ascorbic acid, sodium hyaluronate, Eclipta prostrata extractmelia azadirrachta leaf extract, moringa pterygosperma seed oilRosmarinus officinalis(rosemary) leaf extractRosa damascena (rose) flower oil, sodium phytate, xanthan gum, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, sodium anisate, glyceryl caprylate, alcohol, citric acid

Coco Rose – Coconut Oil Body Polish.   $54.95 aud for 226g

This is a sugar scrub and I loved every last grain of it !!!!!

It smells delicious and scrubs well without feeling scratchy, I like to use after washing and before shaving as the coconut oil provides a nice slip to the skin. After using my entire body feels so soft and glistens like a non-creepy eel.  I could easily forgo moisturising ( I don’t though)

To date this is my favourite physical exfoliant for the body.

Repurchase Totally !!!!!

Ingredients  Sucrose (Sugar), Cocos Nucifera (Organic Virgin Coconut) Oil, Capric Triglycerides, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Limnanthes alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Rosa damascena (Moroccan Rose) Absolute, Rose Clay

So there you have it 2 products I adore , One I enjoy and 2 I can live without all in all I’m extremely happy with that and am utterly ashamed that I wrote it off for so long as I assumed it was only suited to millennials so whilst packaging can pull us in occasionally its our own labelling which can put us off.

Have you tried anything from Herbivore Botanicals ? What would you suggest I try next, let me know in comments .

Thank you for reading and I hope you subscribe !!

Best Wishes Genaya xx

April Empties !!!

I got through a hell of a lot in April obviously not all products were opened and finished in that month however I did want to focus on things that were nearly finished and had been put aside due to a lack of interest or obsession with something new and shiny (you know how it is)

I will not be going into the ingredients on each product however will cover the majority of points on each.

Allies Of Skin  Bright Future Overnight Facial 50ml $167 aud

Purpose – To give the effect of a professional facial overnight. Best results seen if used 2-3 nights in a row.

I personally used 3 nights in a row to experience these effects and I did experience them.

  1. The ingredients list is phenomenal featuring Hyaluronic Acid, Glycol, Lactic and Salicylic and Diglucosyl Gallic Acid (more effective than kojic for brightening) Niacinamide and Retinaldehyde.
  2.  Doesn’t irritate the skin even though its a powerful treatment (sensitive skins should still build up to 3 nights in a row use.)
  3.  You don’t need to give up retinol if you are a nightly user due to it being included.
  4. You can forgo the nightly concerns of what should  I use due to the majority of skin needs being met.
  5. You can boost the hydration aspect by layering a hyaluronic acid serum underneath.
  6. It takes your night routine down to a 5 minute duration.

Con’s –

  1. It leaves a film on the skin which you can roll off about 15 minutes after application. (Update this has now been reformulated )

Routine – Cleanse , Mist, This Product, Mist Again.  To combat the pilling as described above , I add an oil over top after 15 minutes.

Comparison – Due to the focus of this being brightening , I’ve often seen and also compared this to Sunday Riley Good Genes . They’re are incomparable due to the massive difference in Ingredients they both aim to address even skin tone , yet this product specifically addresses it from a multitude of fronts. I love Good Genes yet I use it at the serum stage and still need to add additional products to receive the results I want.

Repurchase – Yes , I’ve heard they’ve addressed the pilling situation I mentioned.  I will purchase as it really is a dream formulation and when used as directed it works.

May Lindstrom Skin I have reviewed the entire line already  MAY LINDSTROM SKIN

InFiore Beauty  Treate  Gentle Cleansing Emulsion  $102 aud for 100ml

Purpose – To gently cleanse the skin whilst maintaining the integrity of the skin.

  1.  Extremely gentle milky cleanser.
  2. Cleanses well and rinses off with water.
  3.  Smells absolutely delicious.

Con’s  –

  1. It runs out.

Routine – 1st step.

Comparison – I’ve not used a milk cleanser like this for over a decade , so I really can’t compare it to anything sorry.

Repurchase –  Absolutely.

InFiore Beauty  Fleur Vibrante Healing Floral Essence  $138 aud for 50ml.

Purpose – A energising and soothing treatment.

Pro’s –

  1. It has calendula in it .
  2.   Massages into skin easily .
  3.  It smells lovely and uplifting
  4.  Feels very soothing on the skin.

  1.  It may not suit everyone as it can leave a film.

Routine – If my skin is feeling sensitive I like to cleanse and then massage the balm in. Alternatively as a final occlusive layer in my routine.

Comparison – I’ve not used a lot of balms before so I can only compare it to Blue Cocoon by May Lindstrom. They melt into an oil easily and are great for massaging the skin and soothing the skin . Blue Cocoon is my saviour and this is its younger sister by that I mean its great, its soothing and yet doesn’t feel experienced enough to tackle my major issues. However it is half the price and has not let me down.

Repurchase – I would due to its differences from Blue Cocoon.

Jordan Samuel Skin The Performance Cream $38 usd for 60ml

Purpose – To hydrate and keep skin in optimal condition.

  1.  Peptides
  2.  Calming and hydrating ingredients
  3. Easily customisable , I personally enjoy adding a few drops of Rosehip Oil to it .
  4. Easily absorbed
  5. Suitable a.m or p.m .

Con’s – The one negative is that its only available directly from the Jordan Samuel website therefore depending on where you live you may need to pay customs . Also there is a shipping cost, for me this is easily mitigated by ordering every 6 months and such is my enjoyment of his line that its no trauma to order that much product. Also he has introduced larger sizes in some of the range and his direct to consumer pricing means that we are not paying inflated prices. So not really a con merely added information .

Routine – Your normal routine just add this where you would any moisturiser.

Comparison – This is the first texturally lightweight moisturiser I’ve used , so unable to compare it to what I have used previously. This was perfect during the warmer seasons as it really finished my routines well and left my skin feeling hydrated.

Repurchase – Absolutely !!!

Odacite  Gt + L  Green tea & Lemongrass Serum Concentrate $39 usd for 5ml

Purpose – To target the loss of radiance and luminosity.

Pro’s –

  1. It works
  2. It makes customising your routines to reflect your daily requirements easily
  3. Whilst only 5ml you only need a few drops to reap the benefits.
  4. You can purchase sample kits.

  1. Not all skins react positively to essential oils.

Routine –  This can be used at the serum stage of your routine or mixed in with your hydration serum or your moisturiser.

Comparison – Any other oil aimed at radiance , the key difference being this can be added to anything in order to boost radiance.

Repurchase – Yes,  as stated clearly above this worked for me and gave my skin a beautiful glow that lasted all day.

ECOOKING  Peeling Mask $37 gbp for 50ml

Purpose – A acid based mask to be used weekly to exfoliate the skin.

Pro’s –

  1. A mix of Lactic, Glycolic & Salicylic acids
  2. Gluconolacctone is also here and its an antioxidant with moisturising benefits.
  3. Not irritating and definitely instant visual results.
  4. Good price point for the quantity received and amount used per treatment. I can get at least 6 months of use from one jar.

Con’s –

  1. If you have a more sensitive skin , I would recommend slowly building up to the recommended time of treatment . Start at 3 minutes then slowly build up to the 12 minutes they suggest. you may get the results you want without needing to leave it on that long , my sweet spot was 10 minutes.

Routine – Cleanse, Mask, Mist, Hydrate , Treatment , Moisturise.

Comparison – The only other acid mask I have is the Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari BabyFacial. Whilst they do not have the same ingredient listing they have the same goal to exfoliate and not irritate. I’m greedy so want both however either one of them will leave you with similar results so it comes down to what you prefer to spend and how easy it is for you to purchase.

Repurchase –  Yes this is easier for me to purchase, so I daresay this will be my go to acid mask.

Drunk Elephant B Hydra Intensive Hydrating Gel $75 aud for 50ml

Purpose – To hydrate the skin deeply whilst also helping with fine lines and skin clarity.

Pro’s –

  1. Does offer hydration
  2. Lightweight
  3. Mixes well with other products.

Con’s –

  1.  Does not offer me enough hydration.

Routine – Cleanse, Mist, This, Treatment, Moisturiser

Comparison – I’m comparing this to the Jordan Samuel Skin’s  Hydrate . For me this did not offer the same level of hydration , therefore its definitely not the product for me.

Repurchase – No although if you have an oilier skin type then I do believe this may really suit you and it’s a very good price point for the quality and size.

Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum $116 aud for 30ml

Purpose – Addresses dullness , UV damage and Collagen Synthesis.

  1. Really easily absorbed serum.
  2. Layers well with other products.
  3. Addresses many concerns.
  4. A little goes a long way.
  5. Does not include many of the major potential irritants.

Con’s –

  1. Its not cheap.

Routine – For me this is a morning only product. Therefore its Cleanse, Mist, Hydrate, This, Moisturiser.

Comparison – Any other Vitamin C I’ve tried. This just feels nice and works well on my skin . I noticed a visibly brighter complexion after using daily for 2 weeks. It was not a long enough trial to notice a difference in pigmentation.

Repurchase – Yes , I’m definitely curious to see how it goes with daily use for 3 months. With any products that promise brightening or pigmentation reduction I believe you need that long to see if anything happens.

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask $76 aud for 75ml

Purpose – Tighten Pores, Clear Imperfections and Moisturise.

Pro’s –

  1. Applies easily.
  2. Does not dry out.
  3. Easy to remove.
  4. Skin feels soft after use.
  5. Skin looks bright and clear after use.

Con’s – For me there aren’t any.

Routine – Cleanse, Mask, then proceed with routine as normal.

Comparison- This is the only pre made clay mask formulation I’ve used so unable to compare to another. My usual concerns with clay masks are that they are usually to drying , this one isn’t .

Repurchase – Already purchased a full sized tube of this .

Mario Badescu  Botanical Exfoliating Scrub $37 aud for 100ml

Purpose – Refines uneven texture and helps with congested pores

Pro’s –

  1. If you like a good scrub this is it .
  2. Good Pricepoint
  3. Not Scratchy

  1.  To scrubby for me.

Routine –  Cleanse, Scrub then continue as normal.

Comparison – I will compare this to every other physical exfoliant that comes in a tube. It works , It doesn’t scratch the skin. It works .

Repurchase – Its just not my cup of tea.

La Mer The Treatment Lotion $165 aud for 150ml . The Lifting Intensifier $242 aud for 15ml . The Soft Cream $242 aud for 30ml.

Purpose – This trio is advertised at changing your skin into a hydrated ,firm and luminous canvas of unparalleled perfection

Pro’s –

  1.  It feels unbelievably luxurious.
  2. My skin felt hydrated and soft after using everything.

Con’s –

  1.  You don’t need to pay this much money to have great skin.

Routine – Cleanse, Treatment Lotion, Lifting Intensifier , Soft Cream.

Comparison – Every other item I’ve ever used in these categories . They are lovely yt not essential merely a luxurious choice should you wish to indulge.

Repurchase –  Maybe and not because they’re the best ever just because occasionally I can’t resist being extra !!!!

Dermalogica Calm Water Gel  $64.25 aud for 50ml  & Sound Sleep Cocoon $106 aud for 50ml.

Purpose – Both products are aimed to hydrate and revitalise dry and dehydrated skins.

Pro’s –

  1. Non Irritating
  2. Good price for quantity received
  3. Easily Absorbed

  1. For me it doesn’t provide the level of hydration or comfort I need.

Routine – Cleanse, Water Gel, Treatments, Sleep Cocoon.

Comparison –  Any hydration step , this does not provide me with enough hydration , The sleep cocoon is not as occlusive or repairing as I would like. I think this would be best for an oilier skin type.

Repurchase – No not for me.

Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Hydration Gel $89 aud for 40ml

Purpose – To hydrate your skin.

Pro’s –

  1. My skin felt hydrated
  2. Easily absorbed
  3. Other products layered well.
  4. Skin felt hydrated all day.

  1. Its not cheap.

Routine – Cleanse , This, then continue with your routine as normal.

Repurchase – I will purchase a full size for use of an evening .

Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream $43 usd for 50ml

Purpose – To nourish and hydrate the skin.

Pro’s –

  1. Good Price
  2. Easily absorbed
  3. Layers well.
  4. Skin definitely felt hydrated and nourished .
  5. Little goes a long way.

Con’s –

  1. Not readily available in Australia.

Routine –  At the usual stage in your routine , I preferred morning use.

Repurchase – Yes in summer.

Zelens Skincare 3t Complex Essential Anti Aging Cream $163 aud for 50ml

Pro’s –

  1.  The texture is rich and comforting
  2. Layers well over other products
  3. Skin feels nourished and appears plump and firm.
  4. A little goes a long way.

Con’s –

  1. Its not cheap

Routine- Your usual routine and finish with this.

Comparison –  I will compare this to La Mer soft cream which for the same quantity comes in at nearly double the price apart from that, the key difference is that Zelens in all way and outcomes is formulated with superior ingredients and therefore is truly aimed at delivering measurable results.

Repurchase – I already have one ready to open.

So there you have it my thoughts on all the empties of last month, If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask in the comments.

I do hope you enjoyed and subscribed .

De Mamiel Skin. The Cleansers

Hi everyone !!!!

I’m back again with more cleanser reviews. Today as the title suggests I’ll be discussing my thoughts on de Mamiel Skin . At this stage I’ve only indulged in the cleansers. Once I’ve used the entire range I will then do a seperate post on the Brand as a whole and go into more detailed information.

Ingredients and Recommended use were taken directly from https://www.demamiel.com

IMG_8847Product – Pure Calm Cleansing Dew

Price –  $76 aud for 100ml

Recommended Use –  Each morning and evening, place 1-2 pumps into your palm and warm. Breathe in the aroma; inhale for a count of 3, pause and exhale for a count of 5. Massage into your face and neck using damp fingers to stimulate circulation and break down dirt, makeup and pollution particles, then add a little warm water to reveal the delicate milk. Rinse and pat dry, for gentle exfoliation use the de Mamiel cleansing cloth.

How I Use –  For me I enjoy this most as a morning cleanse. Whilst it can remove makeup I do prefer it as a skin cleanser not makeup remover . I use around 5 pumps and really give my face a lovely slow massage whilst taking long deep breaths. I do remove with a warm washcloth.

Smell –  This just smells like relaxation and hope in a bottle. Which I realise isn’t the most helpful of descriptions however not one ingredient stands out its just an incredibly well thought out and carefully blended melange of deliciousness

Texture –  It has a medium viscosity which spreads easily whilst being weighty enough to enjoy a long massage.

Thoughts – I first tried this after seeing a Caroline Hirons YouTube video. It become mine almost 2 years ago and I loved it, however thats also the time I started an Instagram account so I began trying a million cleansers and never came back to this. Finally I repurchased and was swiftly reminded of how much joy this brings me not only on an olfactory note but the entire ritual of breathing deeply and massaging my skin with it. This by far is the most soothing and beautiful cleansers I’ve ever had in my collection and I can’t imagine being without it again.

Repurchase – Yes !!!!!

Product – Restorative Cleansing Balm

Price –  $56 aud for 50ml   $97 aud for 100ml (pictured above.)

Recommended Use – Massage a small amount between your palms and onto your face and neck in upward circular motions following Annee’s simple, at-home technique in the care leaflet. Soak a cloth in warm water and hold it against your face for a minute to steam and activate the oils. Breathe deeply, then buff away.

How I Use –  As directed generally ,  mainly I enjoy using in the mornings I will use as a second cleanse in the evening if I’ve had a particularly stressful day. Another way I’ve been enjoying of late is to apply a layer and massage in then leave on in the shower, the steam mixed with the scent is incredible and has the added benefit of protecting my skin in the shower I then wipe away the remnants with a washcloth on exiting the shower.

Smell – Yet another exercise in meticulous blending of aromas both delicate and all encompassing.

Texture –  A thick balm that melts beautifully and easily into skin.

Thoughts – This was recommended by a dear and trusted friend on Instagram . This is such an enjoyable cleanser to use, It feels nourishing and soothing on the skin and gives the most incredible slip to the skin which is perfect for massage with either your hands, gua sha tools or any other massage devices you choose. Yet again the scent is a lesson in understated elegance and is both uplifting and comforting all at once.

So there you have it,  my thoughts I do naturally gravitate towards cleansers from the world of green beauty due to my preference for oil cleansers and a sensory as well as efficacious cleansing experience. There are many fantastic traditional  skin cleansers as well however its called a preference for a reason . I’m looking forward to experiencing more from this beautiful brand and will share as I do so.

Thank you so much for reading , I do hope you both enjoyed and subscribed. Please leave any questions you may have in the comments and I’ll reply as soon as I can.
