Revision Skincare

I was sent the above products from En Vogue Skin Clinic which is the only distributor for Revision Skincare throughout Australia and New Zealand. I was asked to choose two products from the range that interested me the most and they also sent a deluxe sample pack and booklet filled with information. In exchange I promised a blog post and Instagram post with my thoughts.

The following paragraph is taken from the Revision Skincare website and is how they describe their range.

We concentrate on what is truly important: the substance and quality of our products.

Every day, our scientists pour their hearts as well as their scientific expertise into making Revision Skincare® products. They are driven by a profound passion to develop product formulations that deliver real skincare benefits.

Revision Skincare scientists follow the highest standards of ingredient selection with innovative processes that retain the ingredients’ purity and strength. Our proprietary formulations ensure maximum stability and optimum results.

All of our products are formulated with scrupulous attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to providing the very best.

So clearly they are coming across as a science based brand , no frills only efficacious ingredients and formulations . Now those who know me well realise that I’m all about what it actually does for my skin and are aware that I’m a 50/50 type. 50% green beauty and 50% traditional skincare. I also put a lot of focus on making my skincare routines more of a self care experience, so I must admit I was somewhat concerned as to how I’d like these products.

I have been using the full size products regularly for just over 2 months please also note that I am 41 years old with a normal/dry skin . I have fine lines around the eyes with a slightly hooded eye due to ageing. And have no botox or fillers at this stage.

Without further ado , lets get on with the review.

D.E.J  Eye Cream $129.99 aud for 14ml

What Its Meant To Do –  Be extremely moisturising and improve fine lines and photo damage and also improve upper lid appearance and firm the eye area.

What It Did For Me – I did find that it provided a good level of moisture throughout the day and does feel firming immediately after application . As you can also place this on the upper eyelid the feeling of firming was felt there also.

Recommended Use  This can be used morning and night , One pump for both eyes.

How I Use  I only used in the mornings and used one pump which I found sufficient for both eyes. I like to tap in eye creams to help combat morning puffy eye syndrome. So I tapped in from the inner eye all the way around and up to the brow bone.

Smell  Like nothing so great if you’re sensitive to fragrance.

Texture   A light cream. Definitely not runny nor to thick to absorb.

Thoughts While this is definitely in the luxury category so far it has lasted me 2 months with daily use . I can’t speak to the claims about photo damage however I can say that I found it very moisturising and dry under eyes is one of my biggest issues . Within a month I noticed my concealer was laying better and not settling into fine lines. My lines have not increased nor been eradicated. The level of moisture helped them plump out a little. As for firmness,  under the eye its not really an issue for me, it has helped a little with my upper lid though.  The inclusion of some Copper and Vitamin C did excite me a little. All in all I’m pleased with the results

Purchase – This is definitely on the list.

The following is taken from the Revision Skincare Website.

  • Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline. Helps moisturize the skin.
  • Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Goji Fruit Extract. Provides powerful antioxidant benefits.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil Unsaponifiables. Enhances skin’s moisture level.
  • Vitamin C (THD Ascorbate). Brightens skin and provides antioxidant benefits.
  • Cucumber Fruit Water. Soothes and calms the skin.

Hydrating Serum $104.99 aud for 30ml

What Its Meant To Do –  To keep the skin feeling hydrated and assist with fine lines and wrinkles.

What It Did For Me –  My skin felt instantly hydrated.

Recommended Use  Apply two pumps to freshly cleansed skin, avoiding eye area . Can use a moisturiser over top if needed.

How I Use   I used this the same way I use all hydration serums. Cleanse , Mist or Acid Tone, This, Treatment, Eye Cream, Moisturiser then Oil.

Smell   Again virtually non existent.

Texture   A typical mid weight serum not watery at all. Absorbs easily.

Thoughts On the plus side no matter what I put over it there was no issue with pilling. It doesn’t feel sticky at all. On application it feels hydrating. For me personally as a more dry skin type I didn’t feel like it added a great deal to my overall hydration levels . I tried my routines with and without and there was no discernible difference. I do believe this product would be more suited towards a more normal , combination or oilier skin. If you love Drunk Elephant’s B Hydra then this is probably something you’ll really enjoy.

Purchase – For the reasons stated above I will not be purchasing.

The following is taken from the Revision Skincare Website.

Key Ingredients and Reported Benefits –

  • Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid). Binds water to the skin and provides short- and long-term moisturization.

And now for the samples !!!!

Will give brief thoughts Left to Right.

Gentle Cleansing Lotion – Gentle is the right word , skin felt soft and calm after use.

Papaya Enzyme Cleanser – This felt so good on my skin , not drying at all.

Black Mask – Incredibly brightening and clarifying mask

Vitamin C Lotion 15% – The C in this is THD Ascorbate. No tingling layers well.

D.E.J Eye Cream – Full review above

Intellishade Matte – Broad Spectrum Spf 45 – This is a tinted moisturiser only one shade  which looked to light but ending up changing and worked well on my olive skin and was not to matte , deeper skin tones will definitely need to sample first , makeup layered well over top.

Revox 7 – This contains 7 different peptides and is aimed at expression lines. Not enough to have an opinion. It layered well and felt like a slightly viscous serum.

D.E.J Face Cream – Felt very moisturising on the skin.

So thats my experience with Revision Skincare so far , as you can tell the eye cream was the standout for me. I also really enjoyed the Papaya Enzyme Cleanser , Intellishade Matte Spf and would like to spend more time with the Revox 7 as my expression lines are only becoming more expressive !!!!!

I am extremely grateful I was given the opportunity to try these products, All opinions are my own and shared with you in good faith. If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you so much for reading I do hope you enjoyed and subscribed .

Til next time.

Herbivore Botanicals – I finally went there !!!!

I have seen this brand all over Instagram for the last 2 years and resisted the call of the minimalist packaging and cute names and the temptation  of alleged holy grail products.

3 months ago , I thought stuff it and purchased a few different products to see what its all about.  The packaging is even more glorious up close and I understand why its one of the more popular brands to photograph . Its well priced and everything I tried smells delicious. They don’t use parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, phthalates, chemicals, fillers, animal testing, mineral oils, petroleum.

So I bought one of the gift sets which included travel sizes of the Coco Rose body polish, Rose & Hibiscus mist and a full size lip balm. The other products were the Pink Clay mask and Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Creme.

I will share my thoughts below .

Coco Rose Lip Conditioner $35.95 aud

This is quite a thick balm that I really need to warm up on my fingers before applying. Once applied it feels very soothing and protective and smells delicately of rose and coconut as the name suggests.

I’ve also been enjoying tapping a little onto my cheekbones instead of highlighter on no makeup days and a touch on my brows before combing keeps them in place all day.

Repurchase Yes , although its on the pricier side I believe it would last a long time.

Ingredients  Hydrogenated Soybean Oil (Non-GMO Soy Wax), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Virgin Coconut) Oil, Orchid Root Extract, Rose Damascena (Moroccon Rose) Absolute, Coconut Pulp CO2, Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Oil, Red Iron Oxide

Rose & Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist – Available in 60ml $23.95 aud 120ml $49.95 aud

Another lovely offering, lightly and naturally fragranced , feels refreshing on the skin comes in a travel and full size which I appreciate. I ended up using most of this to mix masks with. For me when I purchase a mist I want it to really start off my skin with a good layer of hydration and for my drier skin type this didn’t really fill that function. It is loved by many so always do what works for you.

Repurchase No.

Ingredients Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Disillate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water (Aloe Water), Rosa Damascena (Rose) Hydrosol, Leucidal (Radish Root Ferment), Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Neer Sikkappu Red

Pink Clay Exfoliating Mask $35.95 aud for 60g

I’m not really a lover of powdered masks traditionally, however of late I’ve been enjoying the ability to customise according to my needs at the time.

The pink clay is meant to be good for rejuvenation and elasticity, It also contains rosehip which is said to have anti ageing benefits. For me my skin looked brighter after use and it came in handy during the great pimple crisis of May 2018. If you have a dry or sensitive skin and suffer from congestion or love a do it yourself clay masking session then this may be for you.

Repurchase  I didn’t love it and have another powder mask I prefer.

Ingredients French Pink Clay, White Kaolin Clay, Organic Rosehip Powder, Organic Rose Powder, Organic Chamomile Powder.

Pink Cloud Rosewater Moisture Creme $69.95 aud for 50ml

I was completely and utterly surprised by how much I’m enjoying this cream and how moisturising it actually is. I mainly purchased this because of the rosewater and more importantly its called Pink Cloud ( thats why they don’t come to me for the science lol.)

Its very light in texture and fluffy almost ,when I apply looks almost greasy but after a few minutes settles into a dewy appearance and my skin feels good throughout the day. Of an evening which is where I most commonly use it , I like to layer after serums and before oil. I wake up with plump looking skin. Its also delicately and naturally fragranced with rosewater which I find a comforting yet refreshing scent.

The ingredients aren’t groundbreaking , It won’t save your life or make you look 10 years younger however it will moisturise your skin and its called Pink Cloud !!!

Repurchase Yes I thoroughly enjoy it.

Ingredients Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juiceHelianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, diheptyl succinate, capryloyl glycerin/sebacic acid, glyceryl stearate citrate, cetearyl alcohol, Populus tremuloides (aspen) bark extract, Rosa damascena (rose) flower waterAleurites moluccana (kukui) nut oilglycerin, cetyl palmitate, Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract,Oryza sativa (rice) seed extract, Camellia sinensis (white tea) leaf extractButyrospermum parkii (shea) nut butter, propanediol, Myrothamnus flabellifolia extract, ascorbic acid, sodium hyaluronate, Eclipta prostrata extractmelia azadirrachta leaf extract, moringa pterygosperma seed oilRosmarinus officinalis(rosemary) leaf extractRosa damascena (rose) flower oil, sodium phytate, xanthan gum, Lonicera caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower extract, Lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower extract, sodium anisate, glyceryl caprylate, alcohol, citric acid

Coco Rose – Coconut Oil Body Polish.   $54.95 aud for 226g

This is a sugar scrub and I loved every last grain of it !!!!!

It smells delicious and scrubs well without feeling scratchy, I like to use after washing and before shaving as the coconut oil provides a nice slip to the skin. After using my entire body feels so soft and glistens like a non-creepy eel.  I could easily forgo moisturising ( I don’t though)

To date this is my favourite physical exfoliant for the body.

Repurchase Totally !!!!!

Ingredients  Sucrose (Sugar), Cocos Nucifera (Organic Virgin Coconut) Oil, Capric Triglycerides, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Limnanthes alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Rosa damascena (Moroccan Rose) Absolute, Rose Clay

So there you have it 2 products I adore , One I enjoy and 2 I can live without all in all I’m extremely happy with that and am utterly ashamed that I wrote it off for so long as I assumed it was only suited to millennials so whilst packaging can pull us in occasionally its our own labelling which can put us off.

Have you tried anything from Herbivore Botanicals ? What would you suggest I try next, let me know in comments .

Thank you for reading and I hope you subscribe !!

Best Wishes Genaya xx

April Empties !!!

I got through a hell of a lot in April obviously not all products were opened and finished in that month however I did want to focus on things that were nearly finished and had been put aside due to a lack of interest or obsession with something new and shiny (you know how it is)

I will not be going into the ingredients on each product however will cover the majority of points on each.

Allies Of Skin  Bright Future Overnight Facial 50ml $167 aud

Purpose – To give the effect of a professional facial overnight. Best results seen if used 2-3 nights in a row.

I personally used 3 nights in a row to experience these effects and I did experience them.

  1. The ingredients list is phenomenal featuring Hyaluronic Acid, Glycol, Lactic and Salicylic and Diglucosyl Gallic Acid (more effective than kojic for brightening) Niacinamide and Retinaldehyde.
  2.  Doesn’t irritate the skin even though its a powerful treatment (sensitive skins should still build up to 3 nights in a row use.)
  3.  You don’t need to give up retinol if you are a nightly user due to it being included.
  4. You can forgo the nightly concerns of what should  I use due to the majority of skin needs being met.
  5. You can boost the hydration aspect by layering a hyaluronic acid serum underneath.
  6. It takes your night routine down to a 5 minute duration.

Con’s –

  1. It leaves a film on the skin which you can roll off about 15 minutes after application. (Update this has now been reformulated )

Routine – Cleanse , Mist, This Product, Mist Again.  To combat the pilling as described above , I add an oil over top after 15 minutes.

Comparison – Due to the focus of this being brightening , I’ve often seen and also compared this to Sunday Riley Good Genes . They’re are incomparable due to the massive difference in Ingredients they both aim to address even skin tone , yet this product specifically addresses it from a multitude of fronts. I love Good Genes yet I use it at the serum stage and still need to add additional products to receive the results I want.

Repurchase – Yes , I’ve heard they’ve addressed the pilling situation I mentioned.  I will purchase as it really is a dream formulation and when used as directed it works.

May Lindstrom Skin I have reviewed the entire line already  MAY LINDSTROM SKIN

InFiore Beauty  Treate  Gentle Cleansing Emulsion  $102 aud for 100ml

Purpose – To gently cleanse the skin whilst maintaining the integrity of the skin.

  1.  Extremely gentle milky cleanser.
  2. Cleanses well and rinses off with water.
  3.  Smells absolutely delicious.

Con’s  –

  1. It runs out.

Routine – 1st step.

Comparison – I’ve not used a milk cleanser like this for over a decade , so I really can’t compare it to anything sorry.

Repurchase –  Absolutely.

InFiore Beauty  Fleur Vibrante Healing Floral Essence  $138 aud for 50ml.

Purpose – A energising and soothing treatment.

Pro’s –

  1. It has calendula in it .
  2.   Massages into skin easily .
  3.  It smells lovely and uplifting
  4.  Feels very soothing on the skin.

  1.  It may not suit everyone as it can leave a film.

Routine – If my skin is feeling sensitive I like to cleanse and then massage the balm in. Alternatively as a final occlusive layer in my routine.

Comparison – I’ve not used a lot of balms before so I can only compare it to Blue Cocoon by May Lindstrom. They melt into an oil easily and are great for massaging the skin and soothing the skin . Blue Cocoon is my saviour and this is its younger sister by that I mean its great, its soothing and yet doesn’t feel experienced enough to tackle my major issues. However it is half the price and has not let me down.

Repurchase – I would due to its differences from Blue Cocoon.

Jordan Samuel Skin The Performance Cream $38 usd for 60ml

Purpose – To hydrate and keep skin in optimal condition.

  1.  Peptides
  2.  Calming and hydrating ingredients
  3. Easily customisable , I personally enjoy adding a few drops of Rosehip Oil to it .
  4. Easily absorbed
  5. Suitable a.m or p.m .

Con’s – The one negative is that its only available directly from the Jordan Samuel website therefore depending on where you live you may need to pay customs . Also there is a shipping cost, for me this is easily mitigated by ordering every 6 months and such is my enjoyment of his line that its no trauma to order that much product. Also he has introduced larger sizes in some of the range and his direct to consumer pricing means that we are not paying inflated prices. So not really a con merely added information .

Routine – Your normal routine just add this where you would any moisturiser.

Comparison – This is the first texturally lightweight moisturiser I’ve used , so unable to compare it to what I have used previously. This was perfect during the warmer seasons as it really finished my routines well and left my skin feeling hydrated.

Repurchase – Absolutely !!!

Odacite  Gt + L  Green tea & Lemongrass Serum Concentrate $39 usd for 5ml

Purpose – To target the loss of radiance and luminosity.

Pro’s –

  1. It works
  2. It makes customising your routines to reflect your daily requirements easily
  3. Whilst only 5ml you only need a few drops to reap the benefits.
  4. You can purchase sample kits.

  1. Not all skins react positively to essential oils.

Routine –  This can be used at the serum stage of your routine or mixed in with your hydration serum or your moisturiser.

Comparison – Any other oil aimed at radiance , the key difference being this can be added to anything in order to boost radiance.

Repurchase – Yes,  as stated clearly above this worked for me and gave my skin a beautiful glow that lasted all day.

ECOOKING  Peeling Mask $37 gbp for 50ml

Purpose – A acid based mask to be used weekly to exfoliate the skin.

Pro’s –

  1. A mix of Lactic, Glycolic & Salicylic acids
  2. Gluconolacctone is also here and its an antioxidant with moisturising benefits.
  3. Not irritating and definitely instant visual results.
  4. Good price point for the quantity received and amount used per treatment. I can get at least 6 months of use from one jar.

Con’s –

  1. If you have a more sensitive skin , I would recommend slowly building up to the recommended time of treatment . Start at 3 minutes then slowly build up to the 12 minutes they suggest. you may get the results you want without needing to leave it on that long , my sweet spot was 10 minutes.

Routine – Cleanse, Mask, Mist, Hydrate , Treatment , Moisturise.

Comparison – The only other acid mask I have is the Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari BabyFacial. Whilst they do not have the same ingredient listing they have the same goal to exfoliate and not irritate. I’m greedy so want both however either one of them will leave you with similar results so it comes down to what you prefer to spend and how easy it is for you to purchase.

Repurchase –  Yes this is easier for me to purchase, so I daresay this will be my go to acid mask.

Drunk Elephant B Hydra Intensive Hydrating Gel $75 aud for 50ml

Purpose – To hydrate the skin deeply whilst also helping with fine lines and skin clarity.

Pro’s –

  1. Does offer hydration
  2. Lightweight
  3. Mixes well with other products.

Con’s –

  1.  Does not offer me enough hydration.

Routine – Cleanse, Mist, This, Treatment, Moisturiser

Comparison – I’m comparing this to the Jordan Samuel Skin’s  Hydrate . For me this did not offer the same level of hydration , therefore its definitely not the product for me.

Repurchase – No although if you have an oilier skin type then I do believe this may really suit you and it’s a very good price point for the quality and size.

Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum $116 aud for 30ml

Purpose – Addresses dullness , UV damage and Collagen Synthesis.

  1. Really easily absorbed serum.
  2. Layers well with other products.
  3. Addresses many concerns.
  4. A little goes a long way.
  5. Does not include many of the major potential irritants.

Con’s –

  1. Its not cheap.

Routine – For me this is a morning only product. Therefore its Cleanse, Mist, Hydrate, This, Moisturiser.

Comparison – Any other Vitamin C I’ve tried. This just feels nice and works well on my skin . I noticed a visibly brighter complexion after using daily for 2 weeks. It was not a long enough trial to notice a difference in pigmentation.

Repurchase – Yes , I’m definitely curious to see how it goes with daily use for 3 months. With any products that promise brightening or pigmentation reduction I believe you need that long to see if anything happens.

Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask $76 aud for 75ml

Purpose – Tighten Pores, Clear Imperfections and Moisturise.

Pro’s –

  1. Applies easily.
  2. Does not dry out.
  3. Easy to remove.
  4. Skin feels soft after use.
  5. Skin looks bright and clear after use.

Con’s – For me there aren’t any.

Routine – Cleanse, Mask, then proceed with routine as normal.

Comparison- This is the only pre made clay mask formulation I’ve used so unable to compare to another. My usual concerns with clay masks are that they are usually to drying , this one isn’t .

Repurchase – Already purchased a full sized tube of this .

Mario Badescu  Botanical Exfoliating Scrub $37 aud for 100ml

Purpose – Refines uneven texture and helps with congested pores

Pro’s –

  1. If you like a good scrub this is it .
  2. Good Pricepoint
  3. Not Scratchy

  1.  To scrubby for me.

Routine –  Cleanse, Scrub then continue as normal.

Comparison – I will compare this to every other physical exfoliant that comes in a tube. It works , It doesn’t scratch the skin. It works .

Repurchase – Its just not my cup of tea.

La Mer The Treatment Lotion $165 aud for 150ml . The Lifting Intensifier $242 aud for 15ml . The Soft Cream $242 aud for 30ml.

Purpose – This trio is advertised at changing your skin into a hydrated ,firm and luminous canvas of unparalleled perfection

Pro’s –

  1.  It feels unbelievably luxurious.
  2. My skin felt hydrated and soft after using everything.

Con’s –

  1.  You don’t need to pay this much money to have great skin.

Routine – Cleanse, Treatment Lotion, Lifting Intensifier , Soft Cream.

Comparison – Every other item I’ve ever used in these categories . They are lovely yt not essential merely a luxurious choice should you wish to indulge.

Repurchase –  Maybe and not because they’re the best ever just because occasionally I can’t resist being extra !!!!

Dermalogica Calm Water Gel  $64.25 aud for 50ml  & Sound Sleep Cocoon $106 aud for 50ml.

Purpose – Both products are aimed to hydrate and revitalise dry and dehydrated skins.

Pro’s –

  1. Non Irritating
  2. Good price for quantity received
  3. Easily Absorbed

  1. For me it doesn’t provide the level of hydration or comfort I need.

Routine – Cleanse, Water Gel, Treatments, Sleep Cocoon.

Comparison –  Any hydration step , this does not provide me with enough hydration , The sleep cocoon is not as occlusive or repairing as I would like. I think this would be best for an oilier skin type.

Repurchase – No not for me.

Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Hydration Gel $89 aud for 40ml

Purpose – To hydrate your skin.

Pro’s –

  1. My skin felt hydrated
  2. Easily absorbed
  3. Other products layered well.
  4. Skin felt hydrated all day.

  1. Its not cheap.

Routine – Cleanse , This, then continue with your routine as normal.

Repurchase – I will purchase a full size for use of an evening .

Earth’s Recipe Moisture Bound Cream $43 usd for 50ml

  2. Easily absorbed
  3. Layers well.
  4. Skin definitely felt hydrated and nourished .
  5. Little goes a long way.

Con’s –

  1. Not readily available in Australia.

Routine –  At the usual stage in your routine , I preferred morning use.

Repurchase – Yes in summer.

Con’s –

  1. Its not cheap

Routine- Your usual routine and finish with this.

Comparison –  I will compare this to La Mer soft cream which for the same quantity comes in at nearly double the price apart from that, the key difference is that Zelens in all way and outcomes is formulated with superior ingredients and therefore is truly aimed at delivering measurable results.

Repurchase – I already have one ready to open.

De Mamiel Skin. The Cleansers

Hi everyone !!!!

I’m back again with more cleanser reviews. Today as the title suggests I’ll be discussing my thoughts on de Mamiel Skin . At this stage I’ve only indulged in the cleansers. Once I’ve used the entire range I will then do a seperate post on the Brand as a whole and go into more detailed information.

Ingredients and Recommended use were taken directly from

IMG_8847Product – Pure Calm Cleansing Dew

Price –  $76 aud for 100ml

Recommended Use –  Each morning and evening, place 1-2 pumps into your palm and warm. Breathe in the aroma; inhale for a count of 3, pause and exhale for a count of 5. Massage into your face and neck using damp fingers to stimulate circulation and break down dirt, makeup and pollution particles, then add a little warm water to reveal the delicate milk. Rinse and pat dry, for gentle exfoliation use the de Mamiel cleansing cloth.

How I Use –  For me I enjoy this most as a morning cleanse. Whilst it can remove makeup I do prefer it as a skin cleanser not makeup remover . I use around 5 pumps and really give my face a lovely slow massage whilst taking long deep breaths. I do remove with a warm washcloth.

Smell –  This just smells like relaxation and hope in a bottle. Which I realise isn’t the most helpful of descriptions however not one ingredient stands out its just an incredibly well thought out and carefully blended melange of deliciousness

Texture –  It has a medium viscosity which spreads easily whilst being weighty enough to enjoy a long massage.

Thoughts – I first tried this after seeing a Caroline Hirons YouTube video. It become mine almost 2 years ago and I loved it, however thats also the time I started an Instagram account so I began trying a million cleansers and never came back to this. Finally I repurchased and was swiftly reminded of how much joy this brings me not only on an olfactory note but the entire ritual of breathing deeply and massaging my skin with it. Product – Restorative Cleansing Balm

Price –  $56 aud for 50ml   $97 aud for 100ml (pictured above.)

Recommended Use – Massage a small amount between your palms and onto your face and neck in upward circular motions following Annee’s simple, at-home technique in the care leaflet. Soak a cloth in warm water and hold it against your face for a minute to steam and activate the oils. Breathe deeply, then buff away.

How I Use –  As directed generally ,  mainly I enjoy using in the mornings I will use as a second cleanse in the evening if I’ve had a particularly stressful day. Another way I’ve been enjoying of late is to apply a layer and massage in then leave on in the shower, the steam mixed with the scent is incredible and has the added benefit of protecting my skin in the shower I then wipe away the remnants with a washcloth on exiting the shower.

Smell – Yet another exercise in meticulous blending of aromas both delicate and all encompassing.

Texture –  A thick balm that melts beautifully and easily into skin.

Thoughts – This was recommended by a dear and trusted friend on Instagram . This is such an enjoyable cleanser to use, It feels nourishing and soothing on the skin and gives the most incredible slip to the skin which is perfect for massage with either your hands, gua sha tools or any other massage devices you choose. So there you have it,  my thoughts I do naturally gravitate towards cleansers from the world of green beauty due to my preference for oil cleansers and a sensory as well as efficacious cleansing experience. There are many fantastic traditional  skin cleansers as well however its called a preference for a reason . I’m looking forward to experiencing more from this beautiful brand and will share as I do so.

Thank you so much for reading , I do hope you both enjoyed and subscribed. Please leave any questions you may have in the comments and I’ll reply as soon as I can.

Oskia Skincare.. Renaissance anyone ?

Hi everyone !!!

Just thought I’d share my thoughts about the products I’ve tried from Oskia Skincare . It really is a lovely and effective range.

The mask came in a Caroline Hirons for Cult Beauty box, so that was handy as I don’t think I’d have tried it otherwise and the cleanser was recommended to me by a friend as usual she knows me well.

So read away and hopefully it answers some questions you may have.

IMG_8843Product – Renaissance Cleansing Gel

Price –  $47 aud 100ml

Recommended Use – Massage into dry skin apply a few drops of water to emulsify and rinse with warm water

How I Use –  Generally as a morning or second cleanse . I massage thoroughly into dry skin and remove with a warm washcloth.

Smell –  Reminds me of turkish delight ,So a delicate rose scent and I believe its the chamomile which adds a certain dustiness to it.

Texture –  I know its called a gel but to me it has a soft balm consistency which turns to an oil on the skin.

Thoughts – I absolutely love this cleanser and really enjoy using it I tend to use 3 pumps per cleanse, It also removes makeup however I like giving myself a lovely facial massage with or occasionally as a mini mask hence my preference as a morning or second cleanse. I also find the price point exceptional considering the quality of ingredients and joy in using. So a luxurious, effective product in what I would categorise as mid-level pricing.

Repurchase – Absolutely

Ingredients –  Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Aqua, Cetearyl Olivate, Sucrose Laurate, Benzyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Olivate, Sucrose Palmitate, Parfum (Natural), Geraniol*, Dimethyl Sulfone (MSM), Citronellol**, Dehydroacetic Acid, Lactobacillus/Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Ferment Extract, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Sucrose Stearate, Linalool**, Retinyl Palmitate, CI77491 (natural iron oxide), Jojoba Esters, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate.

Product – Renaissance Mask

Price –  $76 aud  50ml

Recommended Use – Apply to a dry cleansed face , massage for a few seconds to activate ingredients if you have sensitive skin wait 10 minutes before massaging. Leave on for 10 – 20 minutes depending on skin type. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

How I Use –  When it comes to acids I follow directions , I leave on for a full 20 minutes and surprise surprise I remove with a warm washcloth lol.

Smell – Rosy with a whiff of citrus.

Texture –  A gel texture.

Thoughts – I did not think this would do anything for my skin. The only reason I tried it was due to its inclusion in a Caroline Hirons for Cult Beauty box. I now really enjoy using it especially in the morning as it just gives such a beautiful glow and smoothness to the skin and the following steps in my routine just feel as though they are penetrating more deeply. I adore the texture and find it removes very easily and occasionally get a little tingle so the potency is real without being rough.

Repurchase – Yes

Dermalogica Pre Cleanse Duo

Hi there !!!

Just thought I’d share my thoughts about this cleansing duo now that I’ve used long enough to feel comfortable in my feelings about them. As many of you know they are loved by many .

This review is about my feelings and personal experience with the products.

Product –  Dermalogica Pre Cleanse Balm

Price –  $57.50 aud

Recommended Use – A small amount massaged into dry skin using the included silicone mitt for mild exfoliation add water to emulsify then rinse.

How I Use –   A hefty dollop massaged into dry skin as a make up removing cleanse then emulsified with warm water and removed with a warm washcloth.

Smell – Very citrusy and lavender.

Texture –  Thick balm like consistency which melts easily into skin

Thoughts This definitely removed my makeup, does not rinse clean yet it is the first step in a double cleanse routine. Feels lovely on the skin and the included silicone mitt is a nice yet not necessary aid. For me the scent of lavender was too strong and I found it stung my eyes a little which is not a surprise, I just have a preference for makeup removers that don’t . Really happy I tried this as Ive been curious for a long time. If you are not sensitive to lavender or use a seperate eye makeup remover then I would definitely recommend . Lasted 3 months using 4 nights per week.

Repurchase . No , for the reasons stated above.

Ingredients – Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Laureth-4, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Ozokerite, Bis-Stearyl Dimethicone, Glyceryl Behenate, Tribehenin, Stearyl Stearate, Stearic Acid, Phospholipids, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Glycol Distearate, Sorbitol/Sebacic Acid Copolymer Behenate, Tocopherol, Glycolipids, Eucalyptus Staigeriana Branch/Leaf Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Linalool, Citral, Limonene, Phenoxyethanol.

Product – Pre Cleanse Oil

Price –  $52.80 aud

Recommended Use – Massage onto dry skin , focussing on areas of congestion . Add warm water to create a milky emulsion then rinse clean with warm water.

How I Use –  As a second cleanse on dry skin, massaging for a few minutes and then I remove with a warm washcloth.

Smell –  Lavender and Grapefruit.

Texture –  Nice thin oil that gives plenty of slip for massage.

Thoughts Again this is one where the smell just isn’t me and also stings my eyes although its recommended as great for removing eye makeup . Because I have this in my second cleanse category it just doesn’t stand up for me against the many other oil cleansers I have tried.

Repurchase No, If lavender and grapefruit are your cup of tea then go for it. It definitely removes makeup and is beautiful for massage.

Ingredients – Tocopheryl Acetate, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Decyl Olive Esters, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben

The Empty Chronicles , Cleansers

Thought I’d go through my empties by category and because I can’t be bothered always holding onto the empty containers these are photos I previously took for Instagram when I was sharing my current stash. I have already done a blog post on May Lindstrom Skin’s entire line which you can find in the Skincare category .

I will just be giving a brief overview of each , If you would like to know more please don’t hesitate to ask .

Product Infiore Beauty – Treate Cleansing Emulsion

Type Milk Cleanser

Price  $102 aud for 125ml

Recommended Use  2-5 pumps massaged gently into skin and removed with warm and cool water or with a warm washcloth.

How I Use  Exactly as directed , I prefer to use as a morning or 2nd cleanse in the evening.

Smell Like a bouquet of summer flowers .

Texture  Light milky feeling.

Thoughts This is just incredibly beautiful and gentle. Also if you prefer to not use washcloths its extremely effective at breaking down oil, so if you’re a fan of oil cleansers then this easily breaks it down and allows you to rinse with alternating warm and cold water to remove. I love the feeling of this on my skin and once removed my skin feels hydrated and plumped ready to absorb the following products.

Repurchase – Definitely !!!!

Ingredients– Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Rosa Damascena Flower Hydrosol, Organic Sugar Cane Alcohol**, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil, Glycerin, Xanthan Gum, Jasminum Officinale Flower Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Arctium Lappa (Burdock) Root Extract, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Flower Extract, Echinacea Angustifolia Root Extract, Plantago Major (Plantain) Leaf Extract, Taraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Leaf/Root Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Aroma*, Limonene*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Eugenol*, Benzyl Benzoate*, Citronellol*, Farnesol*. *Naturally occurs in essential oils. Custom-tincturing ‘Esprit de In Fiore’ alcohol** from organically grown sugar cane and a proprietary blend of ethically sourced botanicals.

Product Omorovicza – Moor Cream Cleanser

Type Cream Cleanser

Price   $97 aud for 150ml

Recommended Use  Apply to damp skin avoiding eyes and rinse clean.

How I Use  As above though I prefer using a warm washcloth.

Smell Menthol

Texture  Heavy creamy feeling.

Thoughts Was so sceptical of this before using as I’m not a fan of their cleansing balm, however I have come to truly appreciate this. My skin feels thoroughly clean yet not stripped this leaves my skin feeling great and ready to absorb the next steps. Will only use a morning cleanse or 2nd cleanse in the evening. Do not recommend if you have sensitive or reactive skin.

Repurchase – Yes but for me this is a summer cleanser, Very refreshing.

Ingredients– Aqua (Hungarian Thermal Water), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Silt (Hungarian Mud), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Saccharomyces Ferment Extract, Zinc Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Tocopherol, Parfum (Fragrance), Eucalyptus Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita(Peppermint) Oil, Phospholipids, Xanthan Gum

Product– May Lindstrom Skin – The Pendulum Potion

Type – Oil Cleanser

Price  $118 aud for 100ml

Recommended Use– Shake bottle gently,  4-6 pumps into palms. Press into dry skin, then wet hands and gently massage. Remove in upwards motions with a warm washcloth.

How I Use  I use nearly 10 pumps because I’m greedy and enjoy a long facial massage.

Smell  Earthy, Floral , comforting.

Texture A beautiful oil, feels weighty in the best possible way.

Thoughts Like most of May Lindstroms products this was not love at first use. It took me a few cleanses to appreciate the beauty of this cleanser. Now that I’ve figured out my ritual with this its magic is undoubted.

Repurchase – Absolutely !!!!

Product Jordan Samuel Skin – The After Show Balm Cleanser

Type – Balm Cleanser

Price  $32 usd for 94ml

Recommended Use Use a small amount with dry hands on dry skin . Massage to remove makeup , spf. Rinse clean or remove with a washcloth.

How I Use  Exactly as directed although sometimes I’ve enjoyed as a morning cleanse as I find it lovely for a long facial massage.

Smell  Faintly of olives and cucumber. I find it to be a very comforting scent.

Texture  Beautiful buttery texture

Thoughts This really piqued my interest in balm cleansers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Whilst not a lot of bells and whistles its actually the simplicity of this that I loved, I didn’t have to worry about any possible irritation and my eyes were not irritated either which is key with make up removal .

Repurchase – Yes!!!!

Ingredients– Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Squalane, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Jojoba Esters, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax , Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Acacia Decurrens Flower Wax, Polyglycerin-3.

Product Sunday Riley – Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm

Type –  Balm Cleanser

Price $72 aud for 100 g

Recommended Use Use a small amount with dry hands on dry skin . Massage to remove makeup , spf.   Remove with a washcloth.

How I Use  As directed.

Smell Delicious kind of like chocolate .

Texture Slightly granular feeling, not scratchy at all .

Thoughts It was not love at first use. I began by using in the mornings and it felt almost like a chore. Then I began using as a makeup remover in the night and it really came into its own. I found it removed every last scrap of product and left my skin feeling clean and soft. Definitely happy I did that as I grew to really appreciate it.

Repurchase – I would as a make up remover , Most products specifically for removing makeup are a little to joyless for me. I enjoy a sensory experience when cleansing and this definitely fits the bill.

Ingredients– Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sucrose Laurate, Jojoba Esters, Acacia Decurrens Flower Wax, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Polyglycerin-3, Glyceryl behenate, C10-18 Triglycerides, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, PEG-8 beeswax, Cetyl Alcohol , Ceteth-20, Steareth-20, Polyglyceryl-6, Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswaxl, Squalene, Tangerine (Citrus Tangerina) Oil, Citrus sinensis (Sweet Orange) Oil, Tanacetum annuum (Blue Tansy) Leaf Oil, Matricaria recutita (German Chamomile) Essential Oil, Vanilla planifolia fruit extract, Ylang ylang (Canaga Odorata) Flower Oil, Citrus aurantium var. Does ” Good Genes ” deliver ?

Ah Sunday Riley ,  Good Genes what can I possibly add to this conversation that hasn’t been heard , read or seen . Something I hope.

I did not try this until a year ago when one of my friends was selling her bottle as she didn’t enjoy it , so I decided to take the plunge and now I understand why its loved by so many.

As a fan of acid exfoliation for at least a decade I was not convinced it would yield many results , however I’d heard lots about how Lactic Acid is good for a dryer skin type such as mine and also being in my 40’s I need all the help I can get with speeding up that cell turnover. And as I was lucky enough to have purchased a nearly full bottle at half price why the hell not !!!

Product – Good Genes by Sunday Riley

Price –  $154 aud for 30ml

Recommended Use – As a serum , one pump applied after cleansing and before moisturising. As a mask , mix with a milky cleanser and leave on for 10-20 minutes.

How I Use –  I use as a serum in the evenings. After double cleansing , acid toning and a mist I then apply 2 pumps to face and décolletage . Currently using twice a week but am looking at increasing that. Will do an update if increasing use makes a noticeable difference.

Smell – Kind of sour to me.

Texture –  Creamy serum feeling takes a few moments to absorb.

Thoughts – I definitely find this to be an important part of my brightening arsenal . I’ve found this to be the best Lactic Acid based treatment and still get the slightest tingle upon application . My skin when I wake looks bright and glowing and this effect has not subsided at all even after using nearly half a 60ml bottle. This is definitely not a budget option I have tried The Ordinary Lactic Acid in 5% and 10% which didn’t work out for me perhaps as I’m used to stronger acids, Also used Allies of Skin Bright Future Overnight Facial which is also good , will do a review of that soon. I’m just a fan of Good Genes because it works for me and if you were to use it twice a week the 30ml bottle will easily last 4 months.

Repurchase – Yes I’ve already purchased and am nearly halfway through the 60ml bottle.

Opuntia Tuna Fruit (Prickly Pear) Extract, Agave Tequilana Leaf (Blue Agave) Extract, Cypripedium Pubescens (Lady’s Slipper Orchid) Extract, Opuntia Vulgaris (Cactus) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract & Saccharomyses Cerevisiae (Yeast) Extract, Lactic Acid, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Squalane, Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Ppg-12/Smdi Copolymer, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol And Ceteareth20, Glyceryl Stearate And Peg-100 Stearate, Arnica Montana (Flower) Extract, PEG-75 Meadowfoam Oil, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Oil, Triethanolamine, Xantham Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Steareth-20, DMDM Hydantoin

Is this ” The Retinol”

Hi everyone just thought I’d share my experience with this product. I have been using for 3 months and have around 1 week left of product. My reason for choosing this product was the inclusion of Lactic Acid in the formulation as my dry skin responds well to Lactic acid. My primary focus in using retinol is help with fine lines and evening out of skin tone and of course helping with general skin aging concerns.  This can be purchased  here . I purchased mine in Australia from @vimandcopharmacy . (these are not affiliate links)

If you’d like to see how I incorporate into my nightly skincare routines you can follow them on Instagram myskinandstyle

Product – Resurface by Shani Darden, Retinol Reform

Price –  $95 usd for 1 oz

Recommended Use – One to Two pumps on clean dry skin in the evening, apply moisturiser if needed . Build up slowly until you can use nightly. SPF must be used daily.

How I Use –  I used after a Hyaluronic acid product whilst building my tolerance. I now use after acid toning 4 nights per week , its my sweet spot. .

Smell – Retinol as it should be.

Texture –  Light easily absorbed serum texture.

Thoughts After 3 months of consistent use , I feel as though this is a fantastic product and has definitely been a key contributor in my skins all over improvement. My skin looks and feels great , Noticeable improvement with fine lines , too early to have helped with pigmentation in a major way however with the other products and treatments I’m using and having this is helping those results stay present.

I love the inclusion of Lactic acid and Niacinimide as they are giving me a nice even tone and glow whilst keeping my skin feeling hydrated and healthy. . So loving it right now , Also interested in her latest release Texture Reform , However not sure it will be more suited for my skin than this one.

Repurchase Yes really pleased with the results. Have another Retinol to try first and will then repurchase.

Ingredients – Deionized Water, Retinol (vitamin A propionate), Aloe Vera, Glycerth-26, OctylDimethyl, Polysorbate-80, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lactate, Sodium PCA, Niacinimide, Soduim Benzoate, Inositrol, Lactic Acid, Quaterium-15

The Seeke – Rose Elixir

Hi everyone , I thought I’d hop on and discuss one of my favourite oils . It’s made by a company called @theseeke . And I will definitely be trying more of their products soon. This is not a sponsored post
Product –  Rose & Calendula Beauty Oil

Price – $59.95 AUD for 100ml

Recommended Use –  Can be used as a Moisturiser, Cleanser, Hair Treatment and Bath Oil

How I Use –  All of the above and recently a face oil.

Smell – Although it contains Lavender I only pick up rose, It quite literally smells like a bunch of freshly picked roses.

Texture – Its quite a thick texture which I enjoy.

Thoughts – The first time I bought this I used solely as a body oil, this time around I have played around a lot more and have been enjoying as a morning cleanse, due to the viscosity of the oil its incredible for facial massage and I’ve always been a fan of calendula in products. I will be experimenting with it this week as a makeup remover. a few times I’ve also added it as a facial oil when i’m craving nourishment in particular and its fulfilled those needs well. This is a beautiful product that I will continually repurchase and will be using a lot more consistently

Ingredients – Camellia oleifera seed oil*, Olea europaea fruit oil*, Calendula flowers*, Argania spinosa kernel oil*, Rosa centifolia (red rose buds), Pelargonium graveolens (rose geranium) essential oil, Lavandula angustifolia essential oil, Tocopherol (natural vitamin E).

Repurchase – Absolutely .

Thank you for reading , I hope you subscribe , If you’d like to see my daily routines you can me here @myskinandstyle on Instagram.
